School of Rock is a growing, passionate community dedicated to enriching lives through performance-based music education. With over 425 schools and a strong internationally recognized brand, School of Rock is the largest after-school music education provider in the world.

If you're an experienced music educator or accomplished working musician with a passion for teaching, we'd love to hear from you. We're looking for a Music Instructor to join our Alexandria team.

Why You'll Love Teaching Here
Join a collaborative team of musicians who believe live performance is the best way to inspire growth. You'll have opportunities to coach bands, direct shows, continue developing as an educator, and make a lasting impact by helping students build confidence, creativity, and life skills through music.
Many of our instructors balance teaching with performing, recording, or other musical pursuits, and we strive to build schedules that support both our students and our team.

What You'll Do
As a Music Instructor, you'll create engaging lessons and rehearsals that challenge, encourage, and inspire students while building confidence, musicianship, and valuable life skills through performance-based music education.

We teach guitar, bass, drums, keys, and vocals, and encourage instructors to share their broader musical talents throughout the school.

  • Coach engaging private lessons and dynamic group rehearsals that prepare students for live performances.
  • Teach the fundamentals of music—not just songs.
  • Create thoughtful lesson plans while maintaining accurate lesson notes and Method App assignments.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families through regular communication.
  • Support rehearsals, school events, and the overall student experience.
  • Follow the School of Rock Code of Conduct and all safety policies.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for musicians who enjoy working with people just as much as they enjoy making music. The ideal candidate has experience teaching students of varying ages and skill levels and enjoys helping them achieve goals through performance-based music education.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of music teaching and/or professional performance experience preferred.
  • Experience teaching students of varying ages and abilities.
  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Knowledge of music theory and musical fundamentals.
  • Strong communication, organization, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive, patient, adaptable, and enjoys collaborating with others.
  • Passion for teaching and helping students grow through live performance.

Formal music education is a plus, but we also value experienced working musicians and accomplished performers who have a passion for teaching.
